Vision Isaac Baartkwartier in Development Perspective Achtersluispolder

Last week, the Zaanstad city council approved the Definitive Perspective Achtersluispolder by a large majority. A fantastic step for the development of the area, where a good balance is maintained between the addition of housing and strengthening the economy and employment. The Perspective was developed by the municipality of Zaanstad, together with supervisor Ruurd Gietema van KCAP.

BURA has developed a vision for the Isaac Baartkwartier within the Achtersluispolder, which is included in the Development Perspective.
The municipality of Zaanstad and four landowners have jointly commissioned BURA to develop a vision for the area for the year 2040. BURA worked together with Stadkwadraat BV and Gabrielle Muris for this, and the vision was developed through intensive work sessions with the landowners and the municipality.

In the vision, the Isaac Baartkwartier will be an iconic working area with a rich mix of activity from different sectors. The newly constructed distribution road and bridge over the Isaac Baarthaven provide access to the Achtersluispolder with the Wibautstraat and ensure good accessibility of the area. The Noorder IJ and Zeedijk will be transformed into a green cycle route and will connect the Isaac Baartkwartier with the new residential area north of the dike. In the Isaac Baartkwartier it is possible to stack different work typologies and strengthen the economic function of the area.
