A new development perspective
Bleizo-West is located in the heart of the province of South Holland. It is a unique and vacant lot of approximately 66 hectares. The development perspective for PROEFtuin Bleizo has been determined by the two municipalities of Lansingerland and Zoetermeer. This has given direction to the future development towards an attractive and green living and working environment, near the brand new Lansingerland-Zoetermeer station. This location can offer a solution for urgent regional challenges such as the housing shortage, employment and the capitalization of an important (supra)regional transport hub. The spatial framework for PROEFtuin Bleizo offers space for 4,000 to 6,000 homes and 150,000 m² of workspace and facilities.

City and countryside meet
PROEFtuin Bleizo borders the greenhouse horticulture area where innovative garden sciences, nutrition, horticulture and greenery are central. In addition, the area is located near the Dutch Innovation Park, where technology and applied development are important themes. The combination of technology and green gives color and profile to sustainable area development. All in the place where city and countryside meet.

Three scenarios
Based on three scenarios for the development, lessons have also been learned with regard to accessibility, transport value for the station and planned economy. The ingredients for the development perspective have thus been determined. The ingredients of the development perspective have been translated into development principles for the
area development in which the most important themes for area development have been given a place. Five core values are central to the development of this area: (1) Gateway to the region, (2) An attractive mix of living, working and facilities, (3) Connecting in knowledge and innovation, (4) A healthy and sustainable environment and (5) Connected and accessible.
