A mixed urban area
Schieoevers Noord (Delft) will transform in the coming years from an industrial area into a lively and mixed working and residential area (approximately 77 ha). At this inner-city location, there is a specific focus on space for knowledge-intensive and innovative manufacturing industry in combination with housing, facilities and recreation. The Maker City on the Schie.
The location is strategically located between the city center with IC station and the countryside, the TU campus and the Voorhof district. The Delft Campus station is located within the planning area. The area located on the Schie has a rich history, with characteristic buildings of former factories such as the cable factory, the glue and gelatin factory, and the Kruithuis.

Rust, ruis, reuring
For the mixing of living and working, BURA defined the spatial framework for the transformation of the entire area on the basis of a ‘framework plan for rest, noise and bustle’. Within this, areas have been defined with distinctive characteristics (MaakCity milieus), in which highly urban mixed environments are being developed around the Delft Campus station. The development plan also pays specific attention to sustainability in the broadest sense, including ambitious principles, frameworks and guidelines for, among other things, energy, nature-inclusive construction, biodiversity, climate adaptation, circularity, the environment and noise.
