The city of Amsterdam is working on the Environment Vision (de Omgevingsvisie) 2050, which will be made in an open process with citizens and professionals. Three urbanization alternatives have been developed by a multidisciplinary team from the Municipality of Amsterdam: City around the center, City on the water, and City on the landscape and rail. The alternatives offer different opportunities for urban development and neighbourhood typology in connection with infrastructure, landscape, and socio-economic issues. The team BURA is working on the elaboration of Overtoom-Lelylaan location based on the alternative of City around the center. The elaboration will provide reflection and deepening of the urbanization alternative, formulate dilemmas and opportunities, and explore possibilities for densification and sustainability tasks. Together with planner and designers from the Municipality of Amsterdam, and five other teams working on other locations and alternatives, an imagination of the possible future will be exhibited at the end of the assignment.
